Norge Ski Club Fundraiser for Angelo Pleotis

The Norge Ski Club is hosting a fundraiser on 10/09/22 and they are in need of volunteers who can do face paintings. There is no specific time frame (any time from 11am to 4pm) and any amount of time is appreciated.See PDF for more information: 

World's Largest Corn Maze 5k

The World’s Largest Corn Maze 5k is looking for volunteers to help with the 5k on Sunday, October 16th! Volunteers help to support a great cause, get an awesome event gear item, and lend a hand in allowing participants and themselves to have an inspirational experience they will always remember.

Fall Diddley Craft Fair (Home of the Sparrow)

The BREAK Teen Center

The BREAK Teen Center is a place for teens to come gather in a safe, inclusive environment. They are always looking for volunteers! PRNHS has been invited to be a part of their community service committee, so this is a great way to get those hours in. Northern Illinois Special Recreation Association (NISRA)

NISRA is holding an annual holiday fashion show this November and is looking for volunteers. They need help setting up, tearing down, and assisting during the event. McHenry Senior-TechConnect

Mchenry Sr-TechConnect is a program that teaches senior citizens how to use technology to stay connected virtually with others and keep out of isolation. The program provides a tablet or smartphone with an MDM that limits the function of the device to help the seniors feel comfortable with using technology. McHenry Sr-TechConnect is looking for volunteers to teach the seniors how to use the technology. Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department

The Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department is hosting their annual fire prevention week open house on Saturday, October 8 2022 from 9 am to 12 noon. They need volunteers to help apply temporary tattoos, help with the photo booth, and handing out information. Snacks and drinks will be provided for volunteers! Sage YMCA Corporate Challenge

During the month's events, teams of employees from local businesses will participate in a variety of fun competitive events. In order to run these events they need 5-10 volunteers for various tasks supporting the competition. See the attachments for details:

Norge Ski Club

Twice a year, Norge Ski Club hosts ski jumping tournaments at our facility in Fox River Grove.  They host one tournament in the Fall (September 24, 25) and one in the Winter (January 28, 29).  Norge Ski Club is a not-for-profit, 100% volunteer-run organization and cannot put on a successful weekend without the help of many!  

Volunteers help to direct traffic / show cars where to park, athlete check-in / registration help, collecting bibs after the jumpers are done, hill marking, and this year they need extra help in our concession stand area.  There will be adult supervisors at every location - no experience necessary.

PGJH Camp Timber-Lee Cadet (Males only)

Prairie Grove Jr. High is taking a trip to camp timber Lee in East Troy, WI. They are in need of male cadets. You will have to miss school September 26-28 (Monday through Wednesday), but you will get a lot of hours! Care4 5k

The Family Health Partnership Clinic is hosting a 5k race on Sunday, October 16 to raise support for uninsured women with cervical or breast cancer. The proceeds are used for screening, exams, education, and early detection. The event will be held at Woodstock North High School. Autism Support Program

Information: Help a child through the Autism Support Program (ASP) at Options & Advocacy, which runs a monthly support group for parents of children with developmental disabilities. Sadly, they've had to turn families away from the the childcare portion, due to low staff availability. They're looking for reliable, responsible and dependable individuals to be assigned to various months to help out, as their schedule would allow. Students who are interested would be provided training and on-site support at every Parent Group meeting. Their time would be spent assisting a younger person with autism engaged in structured activities such as music, crafts, games and more. It is 90 minutes of FUN! Home of the Sparrow

Our High School Volunteer Program offers students the opportunity to volunteer at any of our seven Sparrow's Nest Thrift Stores.  As you may know, Home of the Sparrow is a transitional shelter program that provides housing and supportive services to homeless women and children in Northern Illinois.  Our mission is to provide Hope, Opportunity and Support that empowers women and children, as they journey from homelessness to self-sufficiency.  We are proud that all net proceeds from our Sparrow's Nest Stores comes back to support our programs and services.

Bethesda Thrift Shops

Information: Help out at Bethesda Thrift Shops, which are almost 100% volunteer run. You can serve as a one time project, fulfill a certain amount of designated service hours, or volunteer on a continuing basis. Some volunteer opportunities include sorting, pricing, organizing, merchandising, and item repair. Email scott.wolfrum@mailblc.org or call 815-455-2325 if you're interested.

Gigi's Playhouse

Gigi's Playhouse is looking for volunteers. Volunteer positions include but are not limited to social media/marketing, lesson plans, teaching, and administration work. 

More info: GiGi's Playhouse of McHenry County is located in McHenry off of 120 and serves individuals with down syndrome from prenatal through adulthood and their families. Their services include speech therapy, tutoring, cooking and fitness classes, and social groups. All of their services are FREE. This is a great opportunity for high school volunteers to gain some real world experience!

Habitat for Humanity

Volunteer opportunities are available in Habitat for Humanity's Woodstock and McHenry ReStore’s Wednesday through Saturday between the hours of 9am and 5pm for individuals ages 14 and up.  To Volunteer in one of their ReStore’s, please sign up here:

There are also volunteer opportunities available for home building. Volunteers work under the supervision of trained crew leaders in all phases of the construction process.  Tasks include: framing floors, walls & roofs; installing siding, insulation and drywall; painting, laying tile and laminate floors; installing kitchen cabinets, interior doors and trim; and all the door knobs and shelves that make an empty house start to look like a home.  No skills or experience with tools or building are required to participate in our construction projects! To sign up for this, then go here:
